Rayagada: Mystery shrouds the death of a home guard, whose body was found on tracks near Rayagada railway station in Odisha late on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as B Harishankar Rao. He was reportedly deployed for cooking at the residence of Rayagada SP Vivekanand Sharma.
According to sources, he had gone to Sikakulam to attend death rituals of a relative and left for Rayagada, where he stayed with his family, last night. Though the circumstances leading to his death is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that he might have either jumped or slipped while getting down from the moving train.
Meanwhile, police have sent the body to districts headquarters hospital here for postmortem and initiated a probe.
Sources further said that Rao was reportedly under stress for past few months. However, it could not be confirmed since media persons have been denied entry to his house to met his family with police in plain clothes manning the area.
The SP also could not be contact for his comments on the incident.
