Home Isolation Cases In Delhi Up 6 Times In 2 Weeks; Is 4th COVID Wave Round The Corner?

New Delhi: There has been a significant rise in the number of COVID-infected patients who have been advised home isolation in the national Capital.

In fact, home isolation cases in Delhi have increased six times in a matter of two weeks. From April 11 to April 24, the number has gone up from 447 to 2812, PTI reported quoting government data.

COVID-related hospitalizations have also gone up, from 17 to 80 during the period.

The Delhi government, however, sought to assure people that the hospitalization rate has remained low compared to the number of new infections.

Delhi is in the midst of a spike in coronavirus cases, with the number of active cases climbing to 3,975 from 601 on April 11. However less than 3 per cent of total active cases have had to be hospitalized so far.

XE, a sub-variant of Omicron, has recently been detected in some countries. India, however, has so far reported no more than a handful of cases.

Even as people are fearing a fourth wave of the pandemic, Delhi’s Health minister Satyendar Jain has urged people not to panic.

The number of containment zones in the Capital city has remained more or less constant, despite the spike in COVID-positive cases.
