Bhubaneswar: In response to a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs warning the Odisha government of a possible terror attack on the Jagannath Temple in Puri, the state Law Department has asked the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to take necessary steps in this regard.
The ministry in a letter to the chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on February 15 had said that unless the temple administration takes necessary measures to step up security on the four sides of the temple, it will not be possible to provide adequate security to the structure in case of any terror attack.
Talking to mediapersons in Puri, SJTA chief administrator Pradipta Mahapatra said such letter from the Home Ministry are a routine thing. “The temple administration is aware of the matter and has taken adequate measures to ensure the safety and the security of the shrine,” he added.
