Bhopal: Even as the Centre and states are devising ways to ferry them back home, the plight of stranded migrant workers sees no end.
In one such instance, a video going viral on the internet shows a migrant labourer hauling his pregnant wife and a two-year-old daughter on a temporary cart.
The labourer, Ramu, is a native of Balaghat village in Madhya Pradesh. He had to trudge over 700 km for 17 days to get back home from Hyderabad along with his wife Dhanwanta and daughter.
With no means to return home amidst the lockdown, Ramu built a wooden cart to tow them all the way home.
Upon his arrival in his native district, the labourer and his family were aided by a police team with food and medical help. Later, they were sent to their village in a vehicle.
