Elaborating on the 111 positive cases in Odisha, Bagchi said that 80 per cent of them were asymptomatic and capable of infecting others. “Wearing masks, washing hands and not stepping out of the house are the only preventive measures available with us in the absence of a vaccine to contain the spread of the virus,” he said.

“The only other way to defeat it is to achieve heard immunity in which 70 per cent population have to become immune to the infection,” he said, adding that it is an undesirable scenario.

Bagchi further said that the monitoring committees is ensuring smooth supply of essential commodities in the State. “The committee will look into seamless harvest of Rabi crop in 17 districts and distribution of Kharif crop loan distribution for 2020,” he added.
