Honda, on Wednesday, teased in a video stating that its new range of vehicles will be part of a new ‘quiet revolution’ strategy. While it sparked speculation that Honda might reveal an electric scooter, the company dismissed it by saying that all electric target being mulled for 2025 is too ambitious. Instead, it revealed the BS6 compliant version of its highly popular Activa 125 scooter. The new scooter is fuel-injected and is the first scooter in the country to get BS6 certification.
Honda claims the new starting procedure with an integrated idle start-stop mechanism will lower the starting sound to ‘pin drop silence’ level.
The scooter will have a new digi-analogue instrumentation that will show real-time fuel economy and distance-to-empty. It will have an external fuel filler cap for the 1st time and a side-stand engine immobiliser, which will prevent starting when on side stand.
The power rating is expected to be the same.
Honda will give a segment-leading six warranty (3 standard + 3 optional extended) on the new Activa 125. It is expected to come to the market by September 2019.
The prices of the new BS6 Activa will be Rs 3,000-5,000 more than the current model, according to reports.
