Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested two persons for looting valuables from a contractor from Talcher in Angul district.
According to police, a gang of anti-socials engaged in flesh trade sent a photo of a woman to the mobile phone of the contractor with a message to meet her in Bhubaneswar.
On August 13, the contractor had come to Bhubaneswar to meet a person of a private hospital in Khandagiri area. On the same day, the gang members contacted him and later took him to a house in Chandrasekharpur where they severely thrashed him and looted his mobile phone, cash and car.
Following the incident, the contractor lodged a complaint in Khandagiri police station. Later, the police began investigation and arrested a gang member and the owner of the house where the contractor was looted. However, the other gang members managed to escape.
Preliminary investigation revealed that some members of the gang had acquaintance with the contractor.
“We have got the identity of three absconding members of the gang and they will be arrested very soon,” said a police officer.
