Honeytrap Kingpin Archana Nag Seeks Court’s Permission To Appear For Law Exam

Bhubaneswar: Archana Nag, the prime accused of honey-trap and extortion racket, has moved a local court seeking permission to appear for an exam in Integrated Law, which she is pursuing from Capital Law College in Bhubaneswar.

Archana is currently lodged in Jharpada Special Jail and would sit for the upcoming 7th-semester examination as per the jail manual, informed her lawyer Debasish Mohapatra, who is hopeful of getting the court permission.

She is a fourth-year student at the institute.

Bhubaneswar JMFC-5 Court had earlier granted her permission to fill up the form for the exam. “The legal process for appearing in the examination will start after we submit the form with a fine since the due is over,” her lawyer added.

The jail authorities have assured her of complete cooperation, sources said.

On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating some proof of the crime outside the state and has summoned her former close aide Shardhanjali Behera to appear before it on January 24. The ED is also likely to issue a notice to a businessman from Nayagarh district, who is said to be one of her victims, sources added.

Earlier this month, The agency had attached a bungalow worth Rs 3.4 crore owned by Archana Nag and submitted a preliminary 2241-page charge sheet in court against her and three others in the money laundering case.
