The heart-stopping incident took place at Green Mountain Park in the Al Hada area of Taif on Thursday, when the central pole of the ride, known as ‘360 Degrees’, suddenly snapped while it was in full swing, Khaleej Times reported.

At least 23 people were injured, of whom three were in critical condition, as some young men and women were thrown out of their seats.

Two or three people were thrown in opposite directions when the central pole collapsed, while others sustained injuries after the ride thudded onto the ground.

Emergency personnel were pressed into service to evacuate the site and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Some medical facilities declared a Code Yellow, alerting emergency operations plan in a disaster or mass casualty incident.
