Kabul: Several Afghan women wanting to flee the country are being forced into marriages in the evacuation camps outside Kabul airport. That would make them easily eligible for evacuation, the US state department was alerted.
A CNN report stated that the development was brought to the notice of US diplomats, who have alerted the UAE.
Some families were reported to have paid men eligible for evacuation thousands of dollars while some others were asked to pose as husbands so that women can get out of the country which has taken over by the Taliban.
Following the CNN report, concerns have raised over the possibility of human trafficking around the evacuation from Kabul.
The evacuation process is over with the US withdrawing their last troops from Afghan soil on August 31.
US diplomats in the UAE are expected to help in identifying potential victims of human trafficking.
