Hospital Guard Arrested For Beating Mentally Challenged Youth In Rourkela

Rourkela: A security guard at Rourkela Government Hospital was dismissed from service and later arrested for allegedly beating a mentally challenged youth here.

The action against the accused, Sushant Patra, came after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The video showed the guard thrashing the youth with a stick near the hospital gate.

According to sources, the mentally challenged youth had been roaming around the hospital premises for the past few days. On Monday afternoon, Sushant, who was employed with Sarala Security Service, accosted the youth when he was sitting near the hospital’s boundary wall. The guard then proceeded to beat him mercilessly.

Raghunathpali police have admitted the mentally challenged victim in the hospital and arrested Sushant.
