Puri: In a freak mishap, a servitor of Sri Jagannath Temple here received scald injuries and was rushed to the Burns Ward of District Headquarters Hospital after steaming dal spilled over his hands, feet and back.
Identified as Biswajit Mahasuar of Goudabad Street, the servitor was shifted to the district hospital in a temple administration van. Surprisingly, Biswajit has alleged that the District Hospital authorities did not provide him with a fan or air-conditioner in proper working conditiion at the burns ward and that the staff ignored his complaint.
Puri Temple sources, meanwhile, said Biswajit received the scald injuries when hot dal he was carrying from the temple kitchen fell over him. The incident, however, did not impact the temple rituals, added the sources.
