Mumbai: Air India employees will soon get a new uniform.
The Tata Group-owned airline on Thursday announced its partnership with one of India’s most renowned designers to style the outfits.
Manish Malhotra, the man who has done extensive work in Bollywood and other film industries, as well as the fashion industry, will be designing uniforms for over 10,000 Air India employees, including cabin crew, cockpit crew, ground and security staff.
It’s part of Air India’s ongoing modernisation programme to firmly establish its new global brand identity.
“It’s an absolute honour to collaborate with Air India, our national flying ambassador. Reimagining their uniforms is the onset of a journey of joy and collaboration, and I am excited to embark on it,” Manish said.
“Our shared ideology is simple yet profound: to evolve without erasing, to modernise without forgetting. Together, we aim to intertwine tradition with the future, crafting uniforms where comfort meets authenticity, wrapped in timeless elegance,” he added.
The new-look outfits are expected to be rolled out by the end of 2023.
As a first step, Manish and his team are meeting Air India’s frontline staff, and conducting discussions and fitting sessions with them to understand their specialised needs.
