Bhubaneswar: A hotel employee sustained injuries after allegedly being attacked by four men in Bhubaneswar late on Saturday.
The hotel staff has been identified as Buddha Bhuyan, who hails from West Midnapore district in West Bengal. He is undergoing treatment at Capital hospital.
According to sources, Buddha was returning home af
ter his work shift when two men hit his motorcycle near the non-vegetable market in Unit-4 area. When he protested, they beat him up. Two other men joined them and they allegedly attacked Buddha with a sword, injuring him. Locals rushed to his help, intervened, and informed police.
Kharavela Nagar police soon arrived at the scene and admitted Buddha to Capital hospital. He has sustained injuries on his head and feet. Efforts are underway to nab the four accused, who are are absconding. The possibility of previous enmity has been ruled out in the case since the victim told police that he did not recognise the assailants.
Eyewitnesses have reported that the men, who allegedly carried out the attack, were in inebriated conditions.
