House Built Illegally By Ex-Cook In Government School Campus, Rented Out In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: A government primary school in Odisha capital is encountering an unusual problem for the last 20 years.
A house has been constructed in an unauthorised manner inside the school campus in Unit IV area of the capital city and a portion of the building has been rented out illegally.
Sources said a former cook of the school built the house around 20 years ago. Besides staying there, she has given a portion of the house on rent.
A fresh controversy cropped up after a student of the school was allegedly beaten up by the tenant on Wednesday for plucking mango from a tree in the compound.
On being informed, police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation.
Teachers of the school alleged that the former cook continues to occupy the house despite being asked by the authorities many times to vacate the place.
Adding to the woes, the ex-cook has got one more tenant now, teachers alleged, adding that the tenants are also creating disturbances for the students and misbehaving with them.
The school authorities had also approached the police who advised them to put up a notice to vacate the place. However, the ex-cook tore off the notice after it was displayed around a fortnight ago, teachers alleged.
