House mourns departed leaders, adjourned till tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, which began on Thursday, was adjourned till 10.30 the following morning after rich tributes were paid to departed leaders.

As the House assembled, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved condolence motion over the demise of sitting Congress legislator Subal Sahu and former MLA Sura Sethi and a martyred police constable. It was supported by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and BJP member Pradip Purohit and a minute’s silence observed for the departed souls.

Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat then adjourned the House as a mark of respect to the late members of the assembly.

The monsoon session, which will continue till September 16, has six days for official members and two are private members’ days.
