Kuchinda: Two persons, including a woman, died after a old wall of a house collapsed while being demolished at Bijadihi village in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Namita Patel, owner of the house, and Lalit Dehury, a labourer of Kindira village.
According to sources, Namita had engaged Lalita Dehury in the demolition work as the wall had developed some cracks. The incident occurred between 7 am and 7.30 am when the duo was crushed under the wall. They were then rushed to Kuchinda Sub-Divisional Hospital but doctors declared them dead.
“My daughter was standing besides the wall while the labourer was breaking it. As the wall was weak, it suddenly collapsed on them and they died on the spot,” said Namita’s father Arun Kumar Patel.
