Housewife Killed: In-Laws, Husband Held In Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: Khariar police on Sunday arrested three of a family on charges of causing the death of a housewife and forwarded the accused to the court.

According to sub-divisional police officer Santak Jena, Sumitra Dal, daughter of Bharat Dal of Bahalmunda under Komna police station limits, was married to Chitaman Dal of Rishigaon under Khariar police station limits of Nuapada district.

The couple did not pull along well since marriage and it culminated in a family fight on September 11. According to sources, Sumitra’s husband Chitaman, mother-in-law Pune Dal and father-in-law Drona Dal are reported to have attacked her on September 13 leading to her death. The accused allegedly buried Sumitra in a jungle nearby on the pretext that she had committed suicide.

The police arrested the three persons after exhuming the body on the complaint of Sumitra’s father and forwarded them to Khariar court, added Santak Jena.
