Mumbai: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who has been dating Bengaluru-based Gauri Spratt for 18 months, made his relationship official ahead of his 60th birthday on March 13.
During a candid conversation with the media at a press meet, Aamir revealed how he managed to keep his relationship with Gauri a secret for a year and a half.
“Dekha kuch bhi pata nahi chalne diya maine tum logo ko (See, I did not let you get a wind of this),” Aamir joked.
He continued, “For one, she lives in Bangalore, or lived there till recently. So, I would fly down to meet her, and the media scrutiny is less there. So, we stayed under the radar.”
When asked how no one noticed his girlfriend when she visited Mumbai, the actor took a light-hearted jibe at the other Khans and said, “Mere ghar pe focus thoda kam hai. Aap log miss kar dete ho (The focus is not as much on my house. You guys miss things).”
Sharing why he preferred to go public with his relationship now, Aamir said, “We are committed now, and we felt we were secure enough in each other to tell you guys. And this is better, I won’t have to hide things now.”
Gauri, who hails from Bengaluru, is the daughter of Rita Spratt, a salon owner. She has a six-year-old son.
