New Delhi: An auto-rickshaw has found its way to the United Kingdom (UK), thanks to a British couple who had used it during their 75-day stay in India.
The red and black auto, with cartoon eyes and a cheerful smile painted on its front, was named “Timmy the Tin Can” by the couple. When they left, they decided to take their beloved companion along.
Helen and Mick used Timmy to travel across the country, including to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
While the couple left India after booking the vehicle as cargo, Timmy’s travel to the UK was not quick.
The couple reportedly had to wait for six months before they could finally reunite with their beloved vehicle. Their wait came to an end on October 23, 2026, when Timmy arrived at London Gateway Port in the UK.
Industrialist Harsh Goenka shared the couple’s heartwarming story on X, drawing attention to the unusual journey of an Indian auto-rickshaw from the country’s busy roads to Britain. The story has since prompted several social media users to appreciate the couple’s attachment to their vehicle and the memories they created during their travels, News18 reported.
A user encouraged them to continue making memories with their three-wheeler, writing, “I think, it’s time to make more adventures with Timmy in UK, same relation in new place ”
Another one appreciated the couple’s affection for India and their travel experience, commenting, “You are carrying a love. Hope you enjoyed your journey here.”
Yet another person expressed a desire to meet the couple and their unusual companion after its arrival in Britain, saying, “Would love to meet you and Timmy when you are in the UK Please let me know if you are coming to South West England”
“Never leave a family member behind,” another netizen posted, while another social media user wished them well for their future rides, commenting: “Lovely video. INDIA to UK. Happy ride in UK Good millage in this vehicle”.
