Bhubaneswar: Weather scientist HR Biswas was appointed as the new Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
As per the information, Biswas will take charge on June 1 replacing outgoing Sarat Chandra Sahu, whose tenure will end on May 31.
Biswas had visited the Regional Meteorological office here on May 10.
Sarat Chandra Sahu had served as Director at the Regional Meteorological Centre’s office for a period of 14 years. He is the longest serving weatherman among 14 scientists appointed as the Director at the Regional Meteorological Centre since 1973.
