According to producer-film expert Girish Johar and trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai, Fighter has been denied release in all Gulf countries. However, it will hit theatres in the UAE as planned. Details regarding the decision are not known as of now, News 18 reported.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and presented by Viacom18 Studios in association with Marflix Pictures, Fighter is making news because of its cinematic brilliance. The trailer of the film was released on January 15. It presented Hrithik and Deepika as Squadron Leaders Patty and Minni. The two fly helicopters and fighter jets as they teach a lesson to terrorists and Pakistan.
Fighter has a run time of 2 hours and 46 minutes. The Central Board of Film Certification has also granted it a U/A certification to the film. CBFC had also asked for two cuts to the film, one of which encompassed ‘sexually suggested visuals’.
Siddharth Anand told News18 that he’s ‘not really’ bothered about how the CBFC’s demands may deter the flow of the narrative in Fighter. “Everything is very organic in my films. But yes, sometimes, you do things that you feel are working for your film at that point in time. Having said that, there are certain guidelines that the Censor Board operates on and we have to accept that.”
