Cuttack: The State Transport Authority (STA) on Monday informed the Orissa High Court that booking slots for High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in Odisha have been increased to 25,000 per day.
Slots are available even for the month of November. The next hearing is scheduled on November 28.
In an affidavit submitted to the HC, the STA said steps are being taken by the department for increasing the availability of slots and fitment of HSRP on old vehicles.
The vehicle manufacturers were instructed to enhance their slot capacity so that the vehicle owners can get slots easily to affix HSRP within a short span of time and accordingly it was done through their authorized HSRP vendors, the STA said in a release, adding that HSRP facilitation counters have been opened at 38 RTO and ARTO offices.
It further informed that the Chief Executive Officer, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), and Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department, were requested to provide HSRP Online booking facility to vehicle owners at all Mo Seva Kendras across the state.
Camps/temporary fitment centres have also come up at 88 locations and at other places where the dealers network of all manufacturers is not available.

Instruction was issued to all RTOs with detailed procedure for fitment of HSRP on old vehicles registered prior to April 1, 2019, whose manufacturers have closed down their dealer network in the state and for random inspection of HSRP for quality check on fitment and standards, the agency further said.
The STA said that about 29 lakh old vehicle owners have already booked for affixation of HSRP on their vehicles and grievances received from about 200 vehicle owners were resolved promptly by STA and the call centres of authorized vendors.
With regards to the replacement of HSRP in case of damage, all the automobile manufacturers and authorised HSRP vendors have been intimated about the Standard Operating Procedure for issuing duplicate or damaged HSRP, which is available online for the benefit of vehicle owners, it added.
