Bhubaneswar: The deadline for affixation of the High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in vehicles in Odisha has been extended by another month.
With 17.86 lakh people yet to get their vehicles affixed with HSRP, the State Transport Authority (STA) on Saturday announced the extension of the timeline till the end of February 2023.
This was the second time the deadline has been extended and came two days after Orissa High Court sought an affidavit from the STA on the current status of the infrastructure for fitment of HSRP in a hassle-free manner. The next hearing on the matter is on October 31.
Notably, STA had previously requested the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) to make necessary arrangements to facilitate HSRP booking facilities at ‘Mo Seva Kendras’ across the state for people who may not have access to the internet or do not have knowledge of technology to apply online. HSRP help desks are also functional in all RTOs and ARTOs across Odisha for the convenience of vehicle owners and one can apply for registration plates through them as well.
Vehicle manufacturers have also opened fitment centres/temporary fitment centres at 88 locations where dealers’ network is not available, through their authorised vendors.
