Jajpur: A team of Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch on Friday seized around 2.5 quintal of duplicate chewing tobacco (zarda) during a raid on a manufacturing unit in Jajpur district on Friday.
The STF conducted the raid following reliable information about the illegal tobacco manufacturing unit in the wee hours. A large number of fake packets of reputed brands, packaging materials and the equipment used for the production of the zarda were seized from the premises.
Neither the owner nor the employees of the unit has been arrested while the STF has launched an investigation to trace them and get the details.
It may be noted that the STF had seized more than 2.5 quintal of duplicate tobacco products and cigarettes from units in Jatani and Balipatna areas on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar two days back and arrested two persons.
