Puri: Thousands of devotees thronged Puri to witness the ‘Raja Besha’ of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the occasion of Vijayadashami on Sunday.
After completion of Abakasa rituals the Raja Besha was held during which the Lords were adorned with sacred Pata clothes, sandalwood and gold ornaments within the Sanctum Sanctorum of the shrine.
The ritual of Ayudha Puja (worshipping weapons) will also performed in the holy shrine on the occasion of Dusshera. The Mekapa servitors put all the ayudha on three silver plates and took three rounds of the Srimandir.
Following this, the Puspalaka servitors will offer weapons like ‘Hala Musala’, ‘Subarna Tadaki’ and ‘Sankha and Chakra’ to Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath respectively.
Lord Madan Mohan and Ramakrushna will visit the Ballabhav Matha where rituals will be performed.
There was a huge gathering of people to watch the famous Gosani Yatra in Puri. Several ‘Medhas’ congregate at the Singhadwar after which a Deva Sabha (council of Demigods) is organised.
Devotees get to see various forms of attractive Gosani idols of Maa Barabati, Janhikhai, Sunyagosani, Belabai, Gelabai, Naga, Sympathi, Budhabudhi, Dasamundiya Ravana and others on the occasion.
