Kurnool: Without maintaining any of the COVID protocols, hundreds of people were seen celebrating Ugadi in visuals from the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. This came at a time when the entire country is fighting with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been a tradition in Kairuppala village in Kurnool to get divided into teams and throw cow dung cakes at each other in the Ugadi celebrations. However, the traditional custom was dangerous amid the pandemic as the densely packed crowd was seen violating all norms of social distancing during the event.
Ugadi is celebrated as the first day of New Year for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
