Malkangiri: In a major haul, the Odisha Police on Tuesday recovered huge quantity of explosives in the cutoff area of Malkangiri district.
Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Khilari informed media persons that on an intelligence input about the presence of Maoists in the cutoff area, the District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel launched a combing operation in an area near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border in the morning.
During the operation, the DVF personnel came across a mound under a tree inside the forest. On digging up the mound they recovered huge explosives, including 2 IEDs, 20 kg of Cordtex cables, 50 electronic detonators and 70 aluminium super detonators.
Suspecting that the Maoist might have hid the explosives to ambush the security personnel, the SP said the combing operation in the area has been intensified.
