Bhubaneswar: Exercise officials on Tuesday intercepted a car on suspicion of smuggling ganja and seized over one quintal silver ornaments from three secret chambers on the seats inside the vehicle in Odisha’s Sambalpur.
According to sources, the car bearing Maharashtra registration number was flagged down during a checking near a toll gate on Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Biju Expressway.
On being informed about the seizure, CT-GST enforcement officials reached the spot. The seized silver ornaments, including anklets, necklace and idols, are currently being weighed at CT-GST enforcement office. “So far we have detained three persons and they have produced some documents. Everything will be verified and appropriate action will be taken if there are some irregularities,” CT-GST Deputy Commissioner told the media.
It is being suspected to be an attempt to evade GST.
