Cuttack: The Excise officials have seized huge quantity of spurious liquor during a raid on an IMFL off-shop in the district on Sunday.
According to sources, acting on reliable information about production and sale of duplicate liquor by the shop at the market of Balikuda under Badachana police limits, the Excise officials conducted the raid in the evening.
During the raid, the 8-member flying squad of the Excise department seized huge amount of duplicate Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the premises of the shop. Various chemicals used in production of the liquor, stickers and bottles of reputed brands of IMFL were also seized.
Flying squad SP Debasish Patel told the media that the shop has been sealed and detained its 4 salesmen for questioning and further investigation.
As tension prevailed in the area following the raid, personnel from Balichandrapur police station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, Patel said.
