Dhenkanal: The Special Task Force (STF) has seized huge quantities of stolen hard coke, charge chrome and iron pellets and arrested five persons in this connection in Dhenkanal district.
Sources said following a tip-off, the STF conducted raids at several places in the district on Wednesday.
The raids yielded 230 tons of hard coke, five tons of ferro chrome, three tons of iron pellets, 45 tons of steam coke, seven tons of iron rods, four 14-wheeler trucks loaded with steam coke and iron pellets, two JCBs and one 10-wheeler Hywa.
Sources said the accused couldn’t produce valid papers for transportation and storage of the seized cargo,
Further investigation into the matter is on.
Earlier this year, the STF had taken action against organised cargo racket in various districts of Odisha and seized huge quantities of hard coke (262 tons), ferro chrome (216 metric tons), coal (150 tons), and 23 heavy vehicles, etc.
As many as 28 persons were also arrested in this connection.
