Huge Uproar By Opposition Leads To Adjournment Of Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Proceedings in the Odisha Assembly were disrupted on Friday as members of opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress created ruckus over farmers’ issue and law and order situation in the state

As soon as the House assembled for the day, the opposition legislators were on their feet accusing the state government of failing to maintain law and order.

Raising slogans against the government, the opposition MLAs trooped in to the well of the House. They also alleged that the state government had failed to give justice to the farmers.

The House plunged into turmoil amid noisy scenes created by the opposition members, who alleged that the state was witnessing alarming rise in crimes due to government’s failure to maintain law and order.

The BJD members demanded justice for farmers and criticised the government’s handling of the paddy procurement issue. They alleged that the government had failed to provide adequate support to farmers, leading to widespread discontent.

Finding it difficult to conduct business, the Speaker tried to restore order. The House was adjourned till 12 noon as efforts to restore normalcy failed.
