Kandhamal: A skeleton, suspected to be that of a missing student, has been found from a waterfall in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
As per reports, a local man had gone to the waterfall Urmagarh waterfall under Gochhapada police limits in the district in the morning. While fishing, he spotted the skeleton in the waterfall and rushed to the village. He told the Gaon Sathi about the skeleton.
On being informed, a team from Gochhapada police station went to the spot and recovered the skeleton that was trapped between two heavy rocks.
After recovery of the skeleton, the family of Rakhal Behera, a student of Nakadisaru village under Katringia panchayat in the district, claimed that it was that of Rakhal who had gone missing about two months back.
One of Rakhal’s relatives, Sanjay Kumar Behera, said the former had gone to the waterfall along with some of his friends and went missing on October 8. “We had filed a complaint at the police station and gone to the waterfall in search of him. The rescue team also searched for him, but failed to trace him. We are confident that the skeleton recovered today is that of Rakhal,” he said.
The police said they had registered a case and started investigation. But the skeleton would be identified after test and due process, they added.
