Bhubaneswar: Humid weather conditions in Odisha are likely to continue for two more days, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.
According to the weather office, 22 places — Balasore, Chandbali, Cuttack, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Puri, Angul, Baripada, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Talcher, Bhawanipatna, Titlagarh, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Paralakhemundi, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur — recorded temperatures of 35°C or above in the last 24 hours under the influence of a weak monsoon.
Angul was the hottest city in the state at 36.7°C in the last 24 hours.
Weather experts have attributed the increase in temperature to the absence of clouds and a clear sky.
Rainfall across the state is likely to resume from September 5 and the intensity will rise further on September 6.
Two back-to-back low-pressure areas (LOPAR) over the Bay of Bengal are likely to bring the much-needed relief from the hot and humid weather.
“The first LOPAR is likely around September 8 and there is a likelihood of formation of another between September 9 and 15,” IMD’s senior meteorologist Uma Shankar Das said on Friday.
