Barbil: In continuation of its human endeavour and to make wellness available to the people in the region, JSW and Mumbai-based Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation (JCAF) organised a two-day free Mega Health Camp here in the mining areas.
Two health camps, initiated by JSW Foundation were held on Saturday and Sunday at Nuagaon and Jajang dispensaries respectively and benefitted many. More than 550 patients from 27 villages attended the health camp and enjoyed the benefits of free health care services. The mega health camp was organised with the aim of promoting health awareness in the public and offering them easy access to quality healthcare. The camp offered specialist consultations, medicines, laboratory investigations, diabetes tests and services free of cost.
This health camp helped the public address various health problems faced by them, along with early detection and prevention of diseases. Notably, JSW also added a cancer detection service at the camp in association with Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation, Mumbai. Cancer specialist Dr Dilip Kumar Kar attended to patients and conducted diagnoses. Dr Kar is a cancer and Endocrine surgeon, working at Utkal Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
A team of doctors including three general physicians, one gynaecologist and one orthopaedic specialist offered health services and consultations to patients. Dr Kar said, “Such free health camp will surely help the needy who are unable to access specialists doctors outside this region. The camp was helpful in raising awareness on lifestyle- diseases and promotion of health awareness.”
JSW Foundation has been organising similar mega health and cancer diagnosis camps across its business locations across the state since early this year in partnership with JCAF and plans to conduct more follow-up camps in the coming days. JSW officials, dignitaries and village-level coordinators were present at the two-day free health camp.
