Jeypore: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has directed officials to hasten the investigation into the alleged monetary fraud at Lachipeta sub-post office in Malkangiri district and submit a report within 30 days.
Stern action will be taken against the post office staff who are involved in the misappropriation of depositors’ money, Vaishnaw told the media during a road show in Jeypore town in Koraput district on Saturday.
Notably, the CBI has filed a case against three staffers of the sub-post office. The accused include former sub-postmaster Biswanath Podiami and two staffers, Rangama Raju and Ghasiram Madkami.
The alleged fraud took place during Podiami’s tenure between August 29, 2019 and December 31, 2020, the CBI said.
The agency had slso reportedly raided the prime accused’s house and found some incriminating documents.
