Cuttack: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the death of a newly-married woman under mysterious circumstances in Shankarpur area of Odisha’s city.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sonalika Das. Those arrested by Badambadi Police are the woman’s husband, father-in-law and sister-in-law. They have been booked for murder of the woman, sources said on Saturday.
Sonalika, who hailed from Mukamswara village of Cuttack, had reportedly married Gouranga Behera of Shankarpur area nearly two years ago.
Following her death under mysterious circumstances, her family members lodged a complaint with the police that the in laws of the woman had been torturing her for dowry.
Based on the complaint, a probe was conducted and the police arrested the three and forwarded them to court. Further investigation is in progress.
