Man Arrested For ‘Beheading’ Wife In Train

Puri: The identity of the woman, whose headless body was recovered from Puri-Gunupur passenger train on June 20, 2018, has been ascertained.

Police on Thursday identified her as as Gitanjali Mallick, a native of Jajpur. The crime was allegedly committed by her husband, Kapil Mallick, who has been arrested.

On June 20, a passenger spotted the body in a pool of blood in the toilet when the train halted at Puri and immediately alerted the railway officials.

A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) along with scientific team reached the spot and recovered the body from it.

Incidentally, her head was recovered from Gandhi Peeth level crossing at Delang in Puri.

Later, Kapil was arrested and he reportedly confessed to have killed his wife inside the train’s toilet during the interrogation.
