Kottayam: For over six years, she had been adding high doses of drugs used to treat mental illness in her husband’s food.
Ultimately, the 35-year-old Asha Suresh was arrested in Pala after her husband Satheesh filed a complaint, The New Indian Express reported.
Satheesh said in his complaint that a few years after their marriage in 2006, his wife started quarrelling with him over trivial matters. Some years later, Satheesh started complaining about tiredness persistently, but doctors could not find any cause.
Last year, Satheesh avoided having home food for about 20 days, and felt better. He then became suspicious about his wife.
He decided to carry out an internal ‘inquiry’, and came to know that Asha had been adding drugs meant to treat patients with mental illness to his daily diet since 2015.
Satheesh got a photo of the medicines clicked with the help of his wife’s friend and lodged a complaint with the district police chief, submitting CCTV visuals as evidence.
The complaint was forwarded to Pala Deputy SP, following which a police team raided the house. The drugs were seized and Asha was arrested.
