Bhubaneswar: City Mayor Sulochana Das on Tuesday visited various puja pandals along with officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to inspect the quality of street food being sold there.
The visit by the Mayor was a routine exercise to prevent the sale of unhygienic food and maintain proper sanitation at food stalls during the puja festivities.
The Mayor, during her visit to the Rasulgarh puja pandal, was seen directing the panipuri stall vendors to use gloves while serving people and use dustbins to dispose waste.
Speaking to media persons, Sulochana said she visited the pandal to inspect the sanitation measures there. “We moved heaps of garbage from the site with the help of BMC sweepers,” she added.
BMC’s health inspector and food inspector accompanied the Mayor.
