Bhubaneswar: Hyundai on Thursday launched the 3rd gen i20 in India. It comes with two petrol and one diesel engine options, like the Venue.
In the looks department, the new i20 is sharper with a wider cascading grille, newly-designed headlights, DRLs and tail lights with Z-shaped LED inserts.
The prices of the new Hyundai i20 in India are as follows:
The starting range has a 1.2-litre petrol unit that produces 83hp power and 115Nm torque. Then there is the 1.0-litre turbo-charged 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 120hp and 172Nm torque.
Gearbox-wise, the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine has options of 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox. The CVT variant gets 5hp more power than the manual. The 1.0-litre turbo-charged engine comes with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox and an iMT clutchless manual gearbox options.
The diesel engine makes 100hp and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

1.2-litre petrol engine with manual gearbox — 20.35 kmpl
1.2-litre petrol engine with CVT gearbox — 19.65 kmpl
1.0-litre turbo petrol with DCT gearbox — 20.25 kmpl
1.0-litre turbo petrol with iMT gearbox — 20 kmpl
1.5-litre diesel — 25.2 kmpl.
Features-wise, there’s a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai’s ‘BlueLink’ connected car tech, a 7 speaker Bose sound system, sunroof, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and much more.
Safety-wise, there are 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management and hill start assist.
There are warranty packages up to 5 years, with 3-year roadside assistance (RSA) and 3-year subscription to BlueLink connected tech.
The new i20 will compete with other premium hatchbacks such as Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and more.
