Hyundai’s Electric Kona, which was launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 25.30 lakh, is expected to see a price drop of up to Rs 1.40 lakh.
This price drop will happen if the proposed GST reduction in the Union Budget goes through. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while announcing the budget, had proposed a reduction from 12 per cent to 5 per cent for electric vehicles.
Electric vehicle buyers will also get tax benefits of up to Rs 1.5 lakh from their taxable income on the interest payable on loans taken for EV purchase.
To recap, the electric Kona features a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack with ARAI range of 452km and a motor with 136hp power and 395Nm torque. The Kona can be recharged in 57 minutes till 80 per cent using a 50kW DC fast charger, or 6 hours using the included wall charger.
Hyundai is giving a 3-year/unlimited km warranty as standard, and an 8-year/1.6 lakh kilometre warranty for the battery pack.
