Hyundai Venue Launch Date Revealed

Hyundai on Wednesday unveiled its new “for the urban adventurer” sub 4-metre SUV – the Venue. The model was launched simultaneously in India and New York.

The Venue will sit below the Creta and is expected to be priced around Rs 8-12 lakh. Going by Creta and the other Hyundais, it is safe to estimate that it might be priced at a premium over the likes of Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon. However, Hyundai is confident that it will have the lowest cost of ownership.

The Venue takes design cues from the Hyundai Kona and the Santa Fe. The honeycomb grille is large. The interiors are fresh and unlike any other Hyundai. The tail lights bear a similarity to the Jeep Renegade.

The Venue is 3,995mm long, 1,770mm wide and 1,590mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,500mm.

There will be 2 petrol engines and one diesel engine option on the Venue. A new Kappa T-GDI 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine will be introduced in India with the Venue. This 3 cylinder engine produces 120PS power and 172 Nm torque. It will be paired to a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual.

The 1.2 litre 83hp petrol engine from the i20, Grand i10 and Xcent will also be offered. It will come with a five speed manual gearbox only.

The other engine will be the 90PS 1.4 litre turbo diesel that is present on the i20, Verna and Creta. It will also come with only a six speed manual.

The Venue will be feature loaded with a lot of segment firsts such as DCT gearbox, wireless charger, air purifier, projector fog lamps, an HD Display Screen, Chrome Outside Door Handles, Wheel Air Curtains8, an Arkamys sound system, eco-coating and Hyundai’s Blue Link system that will have vehicle theft-tracking, engine immobiliser for stolen vehicle recovery, high-speed alert, geofence alert, panic notification, location sharing, remote locking, remote headlight and climate control functions and more. The Venue will also get a sunroof, cruise control, cornering lamps, cooled glove box and rear AC vents.

Safety-wise, the Venue will have up to 6 airbags depending on the trim. It will also have speed sensing auto door lock, ABS, ESC/ESP, hill assist, brake assist and ISOFIX seats.

Hyundai has confirmed that it will launch the Venue in India on May 21 and it will come with a three year/unlimited kms warranty package and three years of roadside assistance.
