New Delhi: In view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Central government has issued an advisory regarding Independence Day celebrations.
Cautioning states and union territories, the Health ministry has advised state governments and local administrations to avoid large congregations to celebrate the country’s momentous 75th Independence Day.
The Union Home Ministry has instructed states and UTs to strictly follow COVID guidelines as the country continues to record over 15,000-plus daily coronavirus cases on an average.
On Friday, India recorded 16,561 fresh coronavirus cases, according to data provided by Union Health Ministry. There were 49 more fatalities, taking the death toll to 5,26,928.
Following are other Independence Day-related guidelines:
* States and UTs asked to carry out ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign at a prominent location of each district as well as a fortnight and month-long campaign to keep it ‘Swachh’ through voluntary civil action.
* Government departments and educational institutions asked to carry out tree plantation programmes to spread awareness for conservation of environment.
* ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to be continued from August 11 to August 17.
