New Delhi: UP Class 10 topper Prachi Nigam who was trolled ruthlessly on social media platforms for her facial hair said in a recent interview she does not care and will concentrate on her studies.
“However God has made me, I am okay with it. For those who feel there is a difference, it doesn’t matter. Even Chanakya was trolled, and he did not care. Similarly, I also don’t care and will focus on my studies,” Prachi told BBC in an interview.
The Class 10 topper’s picture went viral when the board results were announced and she was mercilessly trolled by netizens. But many also came ahead in support of her. Some shared how hair growth on face can be due to hormonal imbalance.
“If I had fewer marks, I would not have topped and got famous. Maybe that would have been better. I don’t care much about the situation because I have been facing this for a long time. People see girls with hair and feel weird about it because they have not seen this before,” Prachi said in the interview.
Parchi’s mother also spoke during the interview and said she felt bad after people trolled her daughter but she did not let the trolls affect her daughter. “Many people said bad things about her. We told Prachi not to let it weigh on her mind,” she said.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also spoke to Prachi and asked her to focus on her studies.
Bombay Shaving Company recently published an advertisement on Prachi Nigam’s trolled. The newspaper advertisement read, ”Dear Prachi, They are trolling your hair today, they’ll applaud your A.I.R. tomorrow.”
The company is getting backlash for the insensitive ad. Social media users have called the advertisement “desperate” and “in awful taste”.
