Bhubaneswar: Income Tax department officials carried out raids at different premises of a prominent seafood exports company in Bhubaneswar and several other places of Odisha on Thursday.
The simultaneous raids are beign conducted teams of I-T officials at the main office of Falcon Marine Exports Ltd (FMEL) in Bhubaneswar as well as several other locations including Balasore, sources said.
Search operations are also being carried out at the residential premises of the company’s chairman and senior officials in Odisha capital and other places.
The raids are being conducted on the company, considered as one of the largest seafood firms in the state, for detection of alleged tax evasion.
Around 20 teams of I-T officials are are carrying out the search operations since early this morning..
The raids are going on following allegations of tax evasions, sources said, adding that the I-T department is also conducting raids at the houses of the company’s promoters.
The search operations, which are in progress, will continue for some time. The search teams are examining different documents, files and registers as part of the operation. Further details are awaited.
