‘I Take Back My Words’: Kangana Ranaut Forced To Apologise [Watch]

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut is turning out to be quite an embarrassment for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as she is taking a long time to come to grips with her politician avatar.

The actor-turned-MP, pulled up twice in a matter of weeks by her party BJP for uncalled for comments, on Wednesday issued a public apology for her latest rant on the now-scrapped farm laws.

“I need to remind myself that I am no longer just an actor, I am a politician too, and my opinions should not be personal, but a reflection of the party. If I have disappointed anyone with my views and words, I am sorry for that. I take my words back,” she said in a video message, underscoring the collective responsibility of BJP members to stand by the Prime Minister’s judgement.

Kangana, won the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency in June, stirred controversy after suggesting that the three agricultural laws, which were revoked by Narendra Modi following farmers’ protests, should be brought back.

“I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. The farmers should themselves demand it,” Kangana had told mediapersons.

The BJP immediately distanced itself from Kangana’s remarks, with spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia saying that she is “not authorised” to make such comments on the party’s behalf.

Kangana first took to X to emphasise that those, indeed, were absolutely her personal views.

She was later forced to post a apology video.

Last month, Kangana was rebuked by the BJP and advised to exercise restraint in the future after she said that farmer protests were a build-up to a “Bangladesh-like situation in India”.
