Bhubaneswar: The residents of Odisha’s Bhubaneswar and Puri cities will have an opportunity to witness the aerobatic performance of Surya Kiran team of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Speaking to media on Saturday on the proposed show, Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar Prasanna Pradhan said the IAF’s aerobatic team will perform the air show over river Kuakhai in Bhubaneswar on September 16 and over Raj Bhavan in Puri on September 18.
The Surya Kiran Aerobic Team shared its display calendar for the season 2022-23 cycle 1 on Twitter.
The IAF had conducted an air show over Kathjodi riverbed in Cuttack in 2016 to commemorate the birth centenary of former chief minister and legendry leader Biju Patnaik who was also a pilot in the Royal Indian Air Force of the British India.
Surya Kiran and Sarang aerobatics teams and Akash Ganga paratroopers had participated in the air show. Thousands of people, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and then Odisha Governor had witnessed the show.
Surya Kiran is an aerobatics demonstration team and a part of the 52nd Squadron of the IAF. It performs the show with Hawk Mk-132 aircraft.
