Jagatsinghpur: The Idco has started the construction of boundary wall of JSW’s proposed steel project in the district.
Even as demolition of betel vines and identification of trees in the project area in Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadkujang panchayats under Ersama tehsil are going on, the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) on Wednesday started the construction work of the boundary wall from the Mahal end of the area at the sea side.
The pre-caste boundary wall and temporary roads are being built for the first 10 kms. The Idco is carrying out the boundary wall and road project with an estimated budget of Rs 7.4 crore.
The IDCO is implementing the project with involvement of locally available tractors, JCB machines and other construction materials. Many local workers are also engaged in the work.
Meanwhile, five teams led by Ersama tehsildar Chowdhury Pranjananda Das have been deployed in Patna, Mahal, Gobindpur and Dhinkia villages under Dhinkia panchayat for measurement and demolition of betel vines.
As many as 302 betel vines had been measured in four villages in the panchayat and 248 of those were demolished till Tuesday. Financial assistance of Rs 4.34 crore has been given to 180 betel vines owners towards compensation.
