Malkangiri: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, a huge cache of explosives were seized from Swabhiman Anchal in Odisha’s Malkangiri on Monday.
During the joint operation launched by BSF troops along with district police, a Maoist dump was busted in the upper hill ridge, adjacent to the connecting track of village Sadaram-Sanyasiguda and Totaguda and seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and explosives were found concealed under a stone pile.
Items Seized:
1) Steel Container IED (approx 5 kg)
2) 4 Steel Container IED (approx -2 kg)
3) Brass Container IED (approx 1kg)
4) Brass Container IED (approx 500 gm)
5) Other powdered explosive-500gm
6) Brass gas welding stove
7) 4 pairs of camouflage shoes
8) Eye power optical instrument (briefcase) with accessories
9) Spectacle glass with case
10) Ladies wristwatch
The area was then cordoned off and all IEDs were demolished by the bomb disposal squad at the site, the release said.
With this, nefarious designs of Maoist ahead of Republic Day celebration was foiled, it added.
